Makos - Meet & Job Sign up Instructions
IMPORTANT - MEET & JOB SIGN UP DIRECTIONS - Please read the whole message
Meet and Job Sign ups are open on our team site! It is essential that all families complete this for each meet so that our coaching staff and computer operators are able to create accurate meet sheets.
Our first meet is “Time Trials.” For new families, this is a practice meet with just our team. We will conduct everything the way an actual meet will be. This allows new swimmers to get comfortable with the meet structure, gives us base times for each swimmer for the season, and allows coaches to make sure swimmers are legal in their strokes. In this meet swimmers are allowed and encouraged to participate in as many events as they would like (as opposed to competitive meets where they can only swim in 3 individual events).
On the “Meets & Events” tab you will see all of our meets listed for the season. To the right of each meet there is a “Meet Entry” button. When you click on that button you will see all of your registered swimmers listed. Below the names (below all of your swimmer’s names, not each individual swimmer) you will click on the “Edit” button. Next to each swimmer’s name, from the drop down menu, you will select attending or not attending. When a swimmer is declared as attending a meet the next step is to select the strokes they will be swimming. In a regular season meet they can swim up to 3 individual events in addition to relays.
Because we switched to a new web service for this year - no swimmers have past times loaded into our system. The system will prompt you with every stroke selection with “Has the coach approved the swimmer’s entry into this event?”. For Time Trials we have removed this prompt but it will show up for the regular season meets. If you are unsure if your swimmer can legally compete in a stroke please speak with the coaching staff before signing up.
For regular season meets you will also be prompted to select if your swimmer will be available for relays. Relays happen at the end of every meet so if your family/swimmer is unable to stay for the entirety of the meet you can select “not available”. If you select “available” please plan on staying until the meet is finished. Even if your swimmer is not entered in a relay on the meet sheets there are often last minute changes and your swimmer could be called up to swim.
There are deadlines to sign up for meets so that our coaches can create the meet sheets and we can coordinate with the teams we are swimming. For Saturday meets that deadline is Wednesday and for Wednesday meets that dealing is Sunday. Reminders will be sent out.
The other important thing is for our parents to sign up for jobs for each meet. Our meets cannot run without parent volunteers!! If you have questions about any of the jobs available don’t hesitate to ask. If jobs have a first half and second half you are welcome to sign up for both :)
Reminder*** There will be a parent meeting the first day of practice and we can go over this again!
